# NGINX Gateway Fabric 2.7: Gateway API 1.6 conformance, external authentication, and fewer snippets

**NGINX Gateway Fabric 2.7 is now released.**

Thank you to the seventeen community members whose work landed in this release, and to the NGF team!

## Highlights

- **Gateway API 1.6 conformance: TCPRoute and UDPRoute v1**
- **External authentication with HTTPExternalAuthFilter**
- **HTTP/2 to your upstreams**
- **Least time load balancing in NGINX Open Source**
- **Tuning the data plane without reaching for snippets**
- **`useClusterIP`, at two levels**
- **Policy status you can act on**

This release also includes smaller enhancements, changes, stability and bug fixes.

## **Community contributions**

Seventeen community members had work land in NGINX Gateway Fabric 2.7: nine bug fixes, three features, a refactor of 11 of the controller’s most complex functions, and clearer failure output in the system tests.
