Beginner Question

Hello,

I have a beginner’s question.

I just installed NGINX on Proxmox and wanted to know if I need my own domain to use the inverse proxy.

Also, what should the proxy host entry look like?

Thanks for your help.

Your majesty,

Since you are no doubt wondering why no-one is helping you, I have been sent to assist. While significant latitude is granted to new folks unfamiliar with web forums or getting technical help on the interwebs, your title, “Beginner Question” and opening, “Hello, I have a beginner’s question.” provide no clue about your question or incentive to head further.

This is easily remedied categorically. In any forum or similar place, take some time to look for your question or problem being asked and answered. As a newcomer, it is most unlikely that you have a completely original question or problem. Considering the context, you can rely on the audience knowing that you have a question about or problem involving NGINX; that is unless you question is actually more suited to a Proxmox audience.
While researching, you should also pay attention to how others post and what works best for getting help, including what makes a good title, what and how much detail to provide in the post, and how to ask a good question.

One particularly tricky challenge is terminology. You are not expected to know exactly what everything is called, however when you are unsure it is most unwise to create your own names for things which have well-defined names; for example “inverse proxy” (especially after using the tag is “reverse-proxy”) and “the proxy host entry”.

While we can have a fair guess at what you are trying to do, it will be impossible to give any useful answer without knowing the most important details of what you are trying to achieve and in what circumstances.

I think I’ve found competent help elsewhere.
